Dr. Tina Zuoere has issued a heartfelt condemnation following the brutal murder of 22-year-old (or “young” if age unknown) Patrick Pere, a native of Amassoma community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. In a statement delivered with palpable sorrow, Dr. Zuoere described the killing as senseless and called on security agencies to move urgently to identify and prosecute those responsible.
“With a heavy heart, I condemn the senseless and brutal murder of Patrick Pere, a vibrant young son of Bayelsa,” Dr. Zuoere said, extending her deepest condolences to the bereaved family, friends and loved ones. She framed the loss as an irreparable void for the community and urged collective reflection on the sanctity of life.
Dr. Zuoere called explicitly on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other relevant authorities to launch an immediate, thorough investigation. “Justice must be served for Patrick, and for the sake of Bayelsa’s peace,” she said, demanding that perpetrators be brought to book without delay.
Beyond the call for prosecution, Dr. Zuoere appealed to Bayelsa’s youth and wider community to reject violence and embrace unity. “Every Bayelsa youth has an inalienable right to live, thrive, and contribute to our state’s progress,” she said, urging citizens to pursue solidarity over division and to be “beacons of peace and progress.”
As the community mourns, Dr. Zuoere urged reflection on compassion and shared responsibility: “Let us stand together, united in grief, and resolute in our demand for justice.” She closed her appeal with a prayer for comfort for the family and a plea that authorities act swiftly to restore security and trust in Bayelsa.
